Apple watch like any other device might need a reset during its lifetime. Your apple watch might be holding your valuable data which you don’t want to lose at any cost. A lot of your health care data is stored on your Apple watch, through which you keep track of your health and fitness.
Like any other device before resetting its always a good idea to take backup of your Apple watch. Apple watch might be different as in other devices you can go to obvious common options and take the backup, but Apple watch is slightly different.
Today I will show you how to backup and reset your Apple watch without any hassle.
The Backed up Data
I must first bring you to the notice that your apple watch is regularly sharing the data with your iPhone. The data your apple watch syncs with your iPhone are automatically added to your iPhone’s backup.
This data includes:
App Specific Data and App settings like (Maps, Mail settings, Calendar, stocks, and weather).
Your home screen layout, click face settings, your current watch face dock settings, System Settings (brightness, sound, haptic settings, notifications).
Health and Fitness data is also synchronized.
Siri Voice Settings
Most of your data is automatically synchronized with your iPhone. The only data left is Bluetooth pairings of your Apple Watch, Cards added to Apple Pay and your passcode.
Seems like not much of the data, but still I believe we must backup So that no amount of time will be wasted afterward.
Backup Apple Watch
Like other devices, there isn’t an option for Apple Watch backup, but you still can trigger.
First, the auto process, connect your iPhone and apple watch either by Bluetooth or wifi, this will enable your Apple watch to synchronize data with your iPhone.
The data of your Apple Watch with saved along with your iPhone data on the cloud but in separate folders.
Un-pair your Apple Watch. Doing so will trigger the sync of the data before the watch is wiped and returned to factory settings.
Reset Apple Watch
Now that your backup process is done, it’s time now to reset the Apple Watch. There can be n number of reasons why you want to go for a reset. It can be because you forgot the passcode, your device is lagging, or not functioning well, or you might be selling and so on.
Let’s Get to the Point
Reset Apple Watch: Unpair Process
Unpair your Apple Watch from your iPhone.
Your Apple watch and your iPhone should be close to each other and should be on.
Tap on the watch app icon on your iPhone.
On the Apple, watch interface select the name of the watch you want to reset.
Tap the information icon “i”.
Tap on unpair Apple watch. In the case of Series 3 or 4 Apple watch with GPS and Cellular, you can keep or remove your cellular plan.
Enter your Apple ID and password if prompted.
The unpair process will start and can take several minutes to finish. After success, the watch app on your iPhone will return to the pairing screen, and your Apple watch will reboot to the initial setup interface.
Congrats your Apple Watch is now reset.
Reset Apple watch: Erase Content and Settings
If the watch is paired with your iPhone and you don’t have access to your phone at the moment, you can still do a factory reset.
Tap settings icon on your Apple watch
Select Erase all content and settings
Enter the passcode when prompted
Tap Erase All
The reset process will start now and can take several minutes to complete.
After success, your Apple watch will reboot to initial setup.
In case of forgotten passcode
It might be the case that you don’t remember your passcode anymore and want to reset your Apple watch.
Connect to a power source.
Press and hold the side button until the POWER OFF, and EMERGENCY SOS options pop up.
Tap and hold the POWER OFF, then release
The screen will not show two buttons.
Tap on Erase all content and settings
A confirmation message will appear, Tap the green checkmark to continue.
The reset process will start now and can take several minutes.
After success, your apple watch will reboot to the initial setup.
